University of Wolverhampton Confers 160 Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Sri Lanka
Exactly 160 students were conferred Degrees and Masters at the annual convocation of the University of Wolverhampton hosted by BCAS Campus at Galadari Hotel in Colombo last Wednesday (9th July 2014). BCAS Campus has been the local partner of the University of Wolverhampton since 2005. Interestingly, the history of university dates back to 1851. Thus being one of the oldest universities in the UK, its courses are delivered worldwide through an arrangement known as “Transnational Education” in many countries and Sri Lanka is one.
Dr Anthea Gregory the Vice-chancellor Designate and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and a team of senior academics involved in transnational education from the university along with Eng M M Abdul Rahman, the Chairman, BCAS, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Nandamithra Ekanayake and several prominent academics and professionals graced the occasion.
UoW through its successful andh long standing academic partnership with BCAS Campus offers several programmes at Degree and Master’s levels in range of disciplines - Quantity Surveying, Law, Business Management, Bio- medical Science and Computing are some of them.
The students who received Degrees and Masters in the presence of their proud parents and friends at this convocation include MBA (27); MSc in IT and Strategic Management (12); Postgraduate Diploma and Certificate ( 04); LLB ( Hons) ( 30); BSc ( Hons) Quantity Surveying (32); BSc Quantity Surveying (15) and BA (Hons) Business Management (09), BSc (Hons) in Computing and IT Disciplines (31)
UoW and BCAS partnership stresses greater emphasis on the academic quality standards in the process of delivering UK degrees in Sri Lanka. The noteworthy feature is that the substantial portion of the courses are delivered by the very same UK lecturers who deliver the courses at the university in the UK.
