Solid SC solid as ever

After three weeks of competitio­n Solid Sports Club Anuradhapu­ra has taken the top spot of the Dialog Champions League 2014 points table. Solid SC shares nine points with Navy SC but their number of goals being nine from three games gives them the top position from 20 other teams of the tournament.

Both Solid SC and Navy SC has won all the three games played so far but the Sailors lag behind at second spot with eight goals scored from their games. Colombo FC after winning both their games has obtained six points and are at third. They are in a strong position with the present developmen­t for the top place of the DCL.

Meanwhile Java Lane, Air Force SC, Pelicans and Blue Star are placed one after the other from fourth to seventh places. Java Lane, Air Force and Blue Star have played two games each and won one of them while drawing the other. But Pelicans, who are at sixth, have played three and recorded a win, loss and a draw each while conceding ten goals, the most number so far.

Five teams have gained three points each in the table. They are – from eighth to 12th positions -- Army SC, Negombo Youth, Matara City, Nandimithr­a and Upcountry Lions. Kalutara Park, positioned at 13th, have drawn both games played and have obtained two points.

Newcomers Thihariya Youth, Police SC, Super Sun, Renown and Saunders have played two games so far and are yet to record a win, drawing one and losing the other. They have each gained a point. Don Bosco, debutants Crystal Palace and New Youngs are yet to earn a single point after having lost their games played so far.
