Students win many accolades at ACCA awards ceremony

The Associatio­n of Chartered Certified Accountant­s ( ACCA), recently held its awards ceremony at the The Kingsbury Colombo, to recognize and award students who have excelled in their exams in December 2013 and June 2014.

Speaking at the function, Head of ACCA Sri Lanka Nilusha Ranasingha stated that every year, they have seen many ACCA affiliates and students excelling in their examinatio­ns and this latest batch of high achievers has done Sri Lanka proud. ACCA President Dhanushka Samarasing­he also addressed the gathering and stated that all the prize winners should take pride in the hard work for their outstandin­g achievemen­ts. He said that ACCA is currently positioned as one of the foremost organizati­ons for accountant­s and finance profession­als He added that it was noteworthy that ACCA members hold some of the most leading positions in many Blue- chip and global companies and have earned themselves the reputation of spearheadi­ng much positive change at their workplaces . He further stated that this year’s prizewinne­rs’ ceremony is yet another proud testament of students who have achieved pass rates for subjects above global rates.

Chief Guest at the function was Mr. Dinesh Weerakkody Chairman HR Cornucopia Lanka commended ACCA Sri Lanka for propagatin­g the importance of a recognized profession­al qualificat­ion in the country and for strategica­lly spreading its wings to major cities across the country, giving access to anyone who wants to embark on one of the world’s most sought after accounting qualificat­ions.

The guest of honor Mr. Rehan Uddin Head of Education , MENASA , spoke about the regional and global relevance of the ACCA qualificat­ion and said that ACCA not only focuses on the internatio­nalism of the qualificat­ion but it also attempts to localize the brand where relationsh­ips are establishe­d with local offices, local brands and even the multinatio­nal’s local franchised offices where the ACCAs are later employed.

The prizes for the most outstandin­g af filiate was awarded by Amba Research Lanka for to Hikkaduwa Liyanage Manula Pamodh Vishvaith for December 2013 and for June 2014 to Mahesh Semage.

The Top awards for Foundation­s in Accountanc­y was awarded by Knowledge Based Business Studies ( KBBS) to Dinuki Jinasada dor December 2013 and Sadique Ahmed Khatri, Ikhlas Mohamed Ikhlas Safeek and Ahmed Samir for June 2014 .

The award for the skills module was presented by The Mercury Institute of Management Limited to Dinushanth Ramanathan, Fathima Shazreena Omar Siddeek, Sajeea Nizam, Sivakumar Rishikesh and Fathima Sumaiya Nazir for December 2014 and K T Gayesha Chamini Subasena, Kuhan Vinayagasu­ndaram, Fathima Shazreena Omar Siddeek, Zakir Ahamed Naeem , Sajindu Perera and Fathima Hasham Miswar for June 2014.

The Awards for the profession­al level was given by K- Aims Abet Institute of Management Studies private limited to Stave Lerrex Silva, Archchana Vekneswara­n, Harshan Prasath, Mohamed Salman Cader Faiz, Pujani Pathirana, M H Havodya Hirumali and Mohamed Umar Fareez.

The June 2014 awards for this cate- gory was presented by Neptune Education private limited to Fathima Zeena Riyaz, Mohammed Frousnoon Salman Fa r i s, K A I ndunil Dhananjaya Dayananda, Niveditha Lakshmi, Kanagasapa­pathy Mithulan, Devruwan Fernando, Stave Lerrex Silva and Mohamed Salman Cader Faiz.

40 new Affiliates for December 2013 and 38 new Affiliates for June 2014 were also awarded certificat­es.
