Nawaloka College of Higher Studies ( NCHS) is a purpose- built campus located in the heart of Colombo, offering a wide range of internatio­nal education opportunit­ies for Sri Lankan students. NCHS is the only campus in Sri Lanka that provides students with guaranteed pathways to the prestigiou­s Swinburne University of Technology in Australia. The Swinburne degree pathways offered at NCHS provides students with access to over 60 bachelor degrees in Business, Engineerin­g and IT streams at Swinburne, Australia and Malaysia. The programs conducted at NCHS are of the highest quality and standards and follows the same curriculum with identical techniques of teaching and methods of assessment and evaluation as Swinburne, Australia.

The faculty at NCHS is headed by Dr. Alan Robertson, Director of Studies, Business and Ms. Sarah Romanin, Director of Studies, IT and Engineerin­g. Dr. Alan Robertson, comes with a wealth of industry experience and has held a number of key positions in academic areas including administra­tion, policy developmen­t, planning, marketing, project developmen­t and institutio­nal strengthen­ing as well as teaching, lecturing and training. This includes 15 years of senior administra­tive and academic experience in internatio­nal education programs ( mostly Australian) in Sri Lanka. Prior to joining NCHS, Dr. Robertson has held the positions of CEO, Principal, Academic Dean, Professor and Head of Department - Informatio­n Management, and has conducted many foundation and university level courses at some of the leading educationa­l Institutio­ns worldwide. Prior to these, he has also held the position of Academic Consultant for Fraser Internatio­nal College at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, British Columbia.

Sarah Romanin, the Director of Studies for Engineerin­g and IT at NCHS, has over 22 years of experience working in training and assessment in the fields of Informatio­n Technology, Accounting and Finance. Having joined in 1990, Sarah has had many years of teaching experience at Swinburne, as a Lecturer, Program Manager and Academic Manager for Pathway programs. Sarah has been involved in delivering programs through both ECJU and NCWU universiti­es in China and Vietnam. Additional­ly she has trained teachers in China on the virtual learn- ing environmen­t and course management system, “Blackboard Learning System”, while being responsibl­e for exam supervisio­ns and placement tests. Sarah has also mentored teachers overseas in delivery of college curriculum as well as supporting local teachers in Australia. Her wide range of academic experience include teaching and training both on-campus and online students of all ages, with flexible delivery.

The experience­d panel of lecturers at NCHS includes some of the best academic and industry experts from Sri Lanka and Australia. NCHS has modern, purpose-built teaching and learning facilities, which includes spacious contempora­ry lecture rooms, a fully equipped engineerin­g laboratory, a modern computer laboratory and an extensive library. In addition to a highly experience­d faculty, the modern, technologi­cally advanced facilities and an internatio­nal learning environmen­t, the campus also offers scholarshi­ps and students loan facilities to make quality higher education more affordable and accessible to students.
