Qatar Airways increases capacity on Colombo route for second time in 2014
Qatar Airways has upgraded services on its Colombo route for the second time this year with the introduction of an A330 aircraft on one of its triple daily flights to the Sri Lankan capital.
It was just in January this year that the airline expanded one of its daily flights to Colombo from a narrow-bodied Airbus 320 to the wide-bodied Boeing 777.
Starting from November 1, Qatar Airways has been operating a combination of B777, A330 and A320 flights on its Colombo route and is bringing a unique flying experience to its Sri Lankan passengers by operating three different types of aircraft on this route.
The switch from the A320 to an A330 on one of its daily flights has increased the number of seats from 144 seats to 260 seats, resulting in an increase of 812 seats servicing the Colombo route on a weekly basis.
Qatar Airways Vice President Indian Subcontinent, Ihab Sorial said: "This year we are celebrating 17 years of flying to Colombo since our relaunch in 1997; a milestone which is a testament to our commitment to not only the city, but to our customers as well.
"We are extremely pleased that we are now able to offer an increase in capacity to the route in order to help meet the growing needs of our passengers. It has been a pleasure to operate in this market over the last two decades and we look forward to many more successful years of operations in Sri Lanka."
Qatar Airways' global network offers both business and leisure passengers convenient connections to many cities throughout its network of more than140 destinations.
