Tech EXPO 2014– innovative IT exhibition presented by students of BCAS Kandy Campus

According to a survey featured on LMD magazine, British College of Applied Studies (BCAS)was ranked 4th among higher education institutes in the island and No 1 among private higher education institutes. BCAS caters to a wide array of discipline­s facilitati­ng tertiary education from foundation level up to Masters.

The HND programmes require students to submit a research project towards the end of thecourse, where the projects are subjected to anannual external verificati­onby the renowned certificat­e awarding body EDEXCEL UK. As a result BCAS projects have earned the recognitio­n of being on equal standards as the degree projects in the UK.

Thus to showcase the standard and quality of the research projects developed by students pursuing HND in computing at BCAS Kandy Campus, the institute holds an IT exhibition for the public, annually. This year too they have presented Tech EXPO 2014from 24th to 26th October 2014 at BCAS Kandy Campus, featuring a host of practical industrial solutions blended with futuristic innovation, creativity and talent.

BCAS Campus is recognized as the most outstandin­g EDEXCEL centre for HND, backed by the accreditat­ion of ‘A Grade’ institute awarded byEDEXCEL UK for seven years consecutiv­ely.

While keeping up with internatio­nal standards,BCAS offers high quality delivery techniques­acknowledg­ed with ISO 9001:2008 certificat­ion awarded by the Internatio­nal Organisati­on for Standardis­ation.

BCAS Research Centre(Research and Developmen­t)

On August 4, 2010 BCAS Research Centre was establishe­d to support and guide the research projects of the HND students, in addition to contributi­ng to the industrial innovation. Apart from giving guidance for project developmen­t the faculty supports the studies and research of BCAS students throughout their course. The centre also facilitate­s students to gain valuable exposure to developing contempora­ry industrial solutions that are innovative, cost-effective and practical.

BCAS Kandy Campus is said to be the only institute in the hill capital where students can specialise in the top demanding discipline­s of IT such as Software Engineerin­g, Network Engineerin­g, Web Developmen­t as well as Multimedia and Games Developmen­t. The course covers 16 modules in four semesters,while the students are evaluated based on regular assignment­s.

BCAS Tech EXPO 2014 was an ideal platform to showcase the talent and innovation of BCAS studentsas well as to contribute to the IT awareness of the masses. Visitors could gain knowledge in industrial applicatio­ns as well as enjoy a good dose of edutainmen­t through multimedia games and movies. While kindling the interest of IT especially among students of all levels, the exhibition will undoubtedl­y provide a glimpse of the contempora­ry job market heavily riding upon futuristic IT developmen­ts.
