‘Was definitely an unparalleled experience’ Commerce Day of Wesley College- ‘Eventus 2014’
The Commerce Union of Wesley College is one of the most active societies in the school. As a major event in the school calendar, this year the Commerce Day was themed Eventus 2014 – an unparalleled experience.
The quiz competition was held on the 16th of October from 2 pm onwards at the College hall and we had a house full of competitors from various schools. For the first time in the history of Commerce quiz competitions held at Wesley, a staggering 390 students from 33 schools participated, which made this event a success. The total gathering on that day was 524 students.
The winners of the quiz competition in the Tamil medium was Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya. Whilst the winner in the Sinhala medium was Gothami Balika Vidyalaya, and St. Bridget’s Convent was the English medium winner. The winners were awarded trophies and certificates. Scholarships were awarded to the winners by the Excellence College of ACCA. The 4th to 10th place winners were awarded special accolades and all participants were given certificates.
Eventus 2014 was held on the 21st of October 2014. It was an absolute success with a gathering of 470 invitees. It was a very colourful evening of singing, dancing, drama, speeches and presentations. A big ‘Thank you’ to the invited schools being Methodist College, Musaeus College, Gothami Balika Vidyalaya, Lindsay Balika Girl’s School, Sirimavo Bandaranayake College and Presbiterian College who performed at Eventus. The main sponsor was the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and we were honoured to have their CEO Mr. Aruna Alwis as our Chief Guest. Our heartiest thanks to him for gracing the event! The co-sponsors of Eventus was ICBT and ANC. A big ‘Thank you’ to them as well.
