E d Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ became the slowest and longest climber to the top of the UK singles chart. Since debuting at the No: 26 position, the r&b track took 19 weeks to make it to the No: 1 spot. The previous slowest climber to the No:1 position on the UK chart was ‘Think Twice’ by Celine Dion in 1994 with took 13 weeks. ‘Thinking Out Loud’ climbed up one notch to take the UK singles crown from Meghan Trainor’s ‘All About The Bass’. Ed Sheeran’s chart topping is the second career No: 1 for the 23 year singer and song writer on home ground after ‘Sing’ topped the chart in June. ‘Thinking Out Loud’ is accompanied by the wonderful video clip which helped the song on its slow journey to the top of the chart. Sheeran co-wrote the song with Amy Wadge and it was produced by Jake Gosling. In its 19 weeks on the chart ‘Thinking Out Loud’ has sold over 365,000 copies, 89,000 in the last week alone. The track is the third top 10 hit from his current album ‘ X’. It appears ‘Thinking Out Loud’ may become a much in demand play at weddings and perhaps Valentine’s Day in the years ahead. T he only new entry on the UK top 10 this week is “Wicked Games” at No: 6. The German producer has pumped up a dance version of the haunting Chris Issak original of 1990 which peaked at No: 10 at the time. The current version features the vocals of Anna Natlab. O
