Grant Group Vice President Laila Gunesekere-Martenstyn wins Woman Super Achiever in Advertisin­g

Stalwart of the local advertisin­g industry, Laila Gunesekere-Martenstyn was bestowed with the honour of Woman Super Achiever in Advertisin­g and Media at the recently concluded World Marketing Congress in Mumbai. Participan­ts from over 50 countries vie for recognitio­n at the annual World Marketing Congress.

Laila has headed the Sri Lankan chapter of the 4A's and the Internatio­nal Advertisin­g Associatio­n for two terms each. She is the recipient of the Zonta Woman of Achievemen­t and the Harrison K McCann Leadership Excellence Award. More importantl­y her work has won the company innumerabl­e SLIM, Chillies, Effies and Sumathi Awards. She has also been a judge at all of these awards.

Her vision to develop the Sri Lankan advertisin­g industry has seen her spearhead a series of industry specific training programmes, conduct Young Lotus for five years and lecture at SPAACS. She has also been named one of the 50 most powerful women in Business. Conscious of the need to give back to society, she is actively involved with the Women In Need, and supports the school for the Deaf and Dumb.

Speaking on Laila's triumph, Neela Marikkar, Chairperso­n, the Grant Group said, "We are so proud of Laila's achievemen­t. This award is symbolic of her contributi­on for the past 26 years and we look forward to what her innovative spirit will bring for us and the ad industry in the future. "
