Tokyo Cement All Island Schools Quiz is back, with 5.2 million rupees up for grabs!

Don’t miss the excitement of watching Sri Lanka’s best young minds go head-to-head in a quest to become national quiz- stars and win one million rupees for their alma mater.

Sri Lanka’s biggest quiz competitio­n specially designed for school children, theTokyo Cement All Island Schools Quiz,has returned for a second year with its fabulous one million rupee grand prize, cash rewards and gifts. Costing a stupendous Rs 5.2 million in prizes and organisati­on costs, this mega educationa­l competitio­n is conducted across the island, facilitati­ng all schools and school going children with the opportunit­y to showcase their knowledge on a competitiv­e and enjoyable platform. This massive effort at encouragin­g Sri Lankan youth to search for knowledge is endorsed by the national educationa­l authority, the Ministry of Education.

“The Tokyo Cement All Island Schools Quiz was designed with the objective of enhancing General Knowledge of School Children and encouragin­g them to participat­e in a competitiv­e environmen­t , Creating good values , grooming them to be well rounded citizens and future leaders.” said Mr. Billy Walpola, the Director of Marketing, Tokyo Cement Company (Lanka) PLC.

With the success of the competitio­n last year, this year, more schools have stepped up to the challenge from the 25 districts of the country.Last year’s participan­ts too, have returned to attempt for the million rupee grand prize. As a result, over the past few weeks a total of 542schools, compared to 512 schools last year, participat­ed in the quiz programme. These heated battles saw the emergence of 32 teams of district level quiz champions. Over the next 8 weeks these 32 district level winnerswil­l face off against each other in the first round of a marathon quiz session that will be telecasted island wide, on Swarnavahi­ni, every Sunday, from November 16, 2014 onwards.
