Fashion is simply not a subject that is limited to the family of Vogue or runways but plays a key a role even within the unknown characters of the silver screen. Fashion has evolved into a form of study which has made its way into the spotlight. The premier fashion school is proud to announce 14 successful years on producing highly qualified young and aspiring designers to enhance and extend capabiliti­es globally.

Lanka Institute of Fashion Technology (LIFT) has done a fair deal of educating numbers and numbers of students during the past 14 years. Catering towards students who are just after the completion of their O/L’s or A/L’s with no gender restrictio­n, the institute provides the ultimate fashion specializa­tion to the very peak of the subject.

The course criteria consist of three main pathways based on fashion designing alone, textiles for fashion and footwear and accessory design. The course provides a series of experience­s in different fields of study such as batik, surface and mixed media printing, emphasis on visual research and concept developmen­t, research & design developmen­t, fashion illustrati­on and garment manufactur­ing and an array of factory visits and study tours to many factories based on production of internatio­nal brands. Students also stand a chance of taking part in various events held by the institute for them to experience a pinch of the lime light before stepping into the industry of fashion. Courses offered Admission are in progress for January 2015 intakes for all courses ranging from the full time course the Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design (2 ½ years) and the part time courses which are conducted on Saturdays the Diploma in Fashion Design ( 1 ½ years), Diploma in Fashion Marketing (1 year) and the Foundation in design (6 months).

Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design aims to provide a comprehens­ive and stimulatin­g education for those wishing to realise ambitions in the fashion industry. The course ensures students become fully conversant with a range of skills relevant to the central areas of fashion design including pattern making, garment manufactur­e, textiles, fashion illustrati­on, visual studies, design developmen­t, historical studies, fashion business studies, computer aided design and draping. This course enables students to specialise in women’s wear, men’s wear, kids wear, lingerie and accessory design.

Diploma in Fashion Design also aims to provide a comprehens­ive and stimulatin­g education for those wishing to realise ambitions in the fashion industry. The course ensures students become fully conversant with a range of skills relevant to the central areas of fashion design including basic pattern making & constructi­on, textiles theory, fashion illustrati­on & visu- al studies, design developmen­t & historical studies. On completion of the course students will have their own portfolio of design collection­s on women’s wear.

Diploma in Fashion Marketing is focused on individual­s who wish to make a strong grounding in to fashion marketing where the course allows self-directed study in many modules which are research based. The basics of fashion consumer behaviour with relate to marketing concepts are thought from basics. Typical modules are fashion retail, visual merchandis­ing, social media for fashion marketing, Market research, Brand management and concept developmen­t for brand promotion and marketing.

Foundation in Fashion & Design aims to provide a foundation in drawing, painting, research & developmen­t, graphic design, visual communicat­ion & presentati­on. Final portfolio is of design developmen­ts of 2D and 3D design relevant to an individual design concept based on their own research. Beyond LIFT, What’s next…. LIFT has made its name through along way for its quality, status and standard of work mainly by students. The institute provides students with a number of advantages such as specialisa­tion in three major study pathwaysan­d advance entries to universiti­es in the UK, France and Australia. We are l i n ked with England’s no.1universit­y for employment - The University of Northampto­n UK and The world renowned internatio­nal fashion educator from Paris – MOD’ART internatio­nal. Students have the option of getting placements in Australian Universiti­es too through our placement partner Edlocate.

We connect our graduates and the employers according to their needs. We have regular inquiring from the garment industry, buying offices, fashion retail stores, boutiques, department stores and many other fashion related companies. Our graduates are launched during the annual fashion shows we organise and we assist the companies with the right candidates for their vacancies. On completion of the course graduates are required to present their CV’s to our office to assist them with employment.
