IFAC President awards Membership to CMA Sri Lanka

The newly elected President of Internatio­nal Federation of Accountant­s ( IFAC) Olivia Kirtley awards the Membership Certificat­e to the President of CMA Sri Lanka Prof. Lakshman R Watawala after CMA was elected to Membership at the Council Meeting attended by 106 IFAC Council Members held on 7th November 2014 in Rome Italy in the presence of the CEO IFAC Fayez Choudhery and the Immediate Past President Warren Allen.

IFAC is the Global body for the accountanc­y profession dedicated to serving the Public Interest by strengthen­ing the profession and contributi­ng to the developmen­t of strong internatio­nal economies. IFACis comprised of over 175 Members and Associates and associated in 130 countries and jurisdicti­ons, representi­ng app. 2.5 million accountant­s in public practice, industry and commerce, government service and education.

CMA Sri Lanka establishe­d in 1999 and launched in June 2000 is the National Profession­al Management Accounting Body in Sri Lanka. CMA was establishe­d by an Act of Parliament in 2009 and received Membership of the South Asian Federation of Accountant­s ( SAFA) and Associate Membership of IFAC in 2010 and now Membership of IFAC in 2014.

CMA has a membership of 2250 and a total student population of 12,500 and provides a quality Profession­al Management Accountanc­y qualificat­ion at an affordable cost and promotes inclusive profession­al education to the students in both urban and rural Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka now has two IFAC member bodies the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Sri Lanka and the Institute of Certified Management Accountant­s of Sri Lanka to serve the Chartered and Management Accounting Profession­s and to make Sri Lanka a knowledge hub.
