It’s BIG Plans for Sri Lanka!

A senior delegation from La Trobe University (LTU), Australia visited Sri Lanka recently with the aim to further enhance the existing relations between the two countries.

Professor Paul Mather, Head of La Trobe Business School – La Trobe University, headed the delegation. Professor Tim Marjoriban­ks, Head of the Department of Management – La Trobe Business School and Associate Professor Suzanne Young, Director Executive Education – La Trobe Business School, also accompanie­d him. They visited the country with the aim of engaging with various stakeholde­rs and to create new and improved opportunit­ies for students of both countries through numerous study and exchange programmes.

Professor Paul Mather said “La Trobe University’s constant endeavour to engage with key countries in our region and to keep creating enhanced opportunit­ies for students, has brought us to Sri Lanka this year. We have come to Sri Lanka many times in the past and our new offerings should help students from Sri Lanka get maximum benefit from the expertise within La Trobe Business School.”

NEW SCHOLARSHI­PS ANNOUNCED

Once again La Trobe Business School, Australia is offering Scholarshi­ps worth AUD 300,000 for Internatio­nal students, commencing in 2015.

During the visit, La Trobe had planned events with the Industry leaders in Sri Lanka

La Trobe Business School and the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s in Sri Lanka hosted a well-attended CEO Forum for CEOs and Directors of leading companies in Sri Lanka. La Trobe experts led the discussion on Responsibl­e leadership and its value to corporate business.

WORKSHOP ON STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP

The workshop on Strategic Leadership was designed for leaders in the corporate, public, and not for profit sectors and for people looking to move into leadership roles. This workshop offered participan­ts with an opportunit­y to think critically about strategic leadership and to develop insights into how to further their own and their organizati­on’s leadership capacities.

The event was organised in partnershi­p with the Sri Lanka Australia New Zealand Business Chamber. On the same evening a reception was organised for leaders from industry, university alumni as well as Sri Lankan School Principals and University academics. The Chief Guest at the event was Her Excellency Robyn Mudie, Australian High Commission­er to Sri Lanka.

OTHER EVENTS

La Trobe University organised a one-day training workshop for its agents to brief them on recent developmen­ts at La Trobe including new programs.

A one-day exhibition was organised for the prospectiv­e students from Sri Lanka to offer them opportunit­y to meet senior academics from various facul- ties and receive first hand informatio­n on university courses and facilities.

They also meet various partner Institutes like the University of Colombo, SLIIT, Australian College of Business and Technology [ACBT] and conducted guest lectures and workshops for their students and faculty members.
