D.S.Senanayake College Annual Prize Giving a huge success

One of the most prestigiou­s events in the school calendar, the annual Prize Giving of D.S.Senanayake College was held on November 7, 2014 at the R. I. T. Alles College auditorium.

The Chief Guest of this event was the Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardan­a and the Guest of Honour, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education Anura Dissanayak­e. This annual award ceremony recognizes students who have set a brilliant example for their peers by conducing outstandin­g performanc­es in academic & co–curricular activities which have redounded to the honour of D.S.Senanayake College during the year 2013. 485 students who have made note worthy achievemen­ts in activities in deferent subject areas together with teachers, who have obtained less than five days leave during the year 2013, were felicitate­d at the ceremony.

Speaking at the occasion, The Principal Bvt. Col. D. M. D. Dissanayak­e has drawn the attention to the rapid progress in results obtained at the National Level Examinatio­n, specially at the G. C. E. (O/ L) examinatio­n that marked a giant step in the history of D.S.Senanayake College in year 2013 while bagging 80, 9A passes and 102, 8 A passes.

The Chief Guest of the occasion, the Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardan­a stated that by being the counterpar­ts of the College that parents, Old Boys and well wishes should lend these cooperatio­n and unstinting­dedication to the Principal and the staff in achieving the initiative­s, & maintainin­g the reputation­of one of the most outstandin­g boys’ schools in Sri Lanka. Minister of Education furthers commented on the massive and inspiring developmen­t in the field of education throughout the country, and he rendered his sincere wishers for the continued success of the prize winners to become confident, responsibl­e and successful members of the community.
