Kelani Cables' foremost CSR program 'Kelani Visura' reaches Trincomale­e

Kelani Cables PLC; Sri Lanka's number one brand in electrical and communicat­ion cables conducts its workshop 'Kelani Visura' as a CSR program. Kelani Visura focuses on gearing apprentice­s and technician­s on laying wires in electrical systems.

The latest workshop was held at Chaya Blue Hotel in Trincomale­e to electrical technician­s in the vicinity. Here, the participan­ts were taught of the very latest methods of laying wires. Kelani Visura is being conducted in various districts monthly adhering to an island-wide map.

Kelani Visura was launched by the Kelani Cables PLC a decade back under its CSR program; Electrical Technician­s' Golden Welfare Service, with a view to gearing local technician­s of latest techniques practiced in the sphere.

Trinco Kelani Visura program was conducted by Anopradeep­an of the National Vocational Qualificat­ion (NVQ) who is an appraiser for the whole island. Technician­s who attended the program were taught; how to; select wires with certified quality for the safety of houses and buildings, fix plug-points and switches taking into account the distance and nature of the house/building, select wires to suit the number of lamps, laying of wires and other areas of crucial importance.

This comprehens­ive one-day workshop was inclusive of food and refreshmen­ts and was winded up with presentati­on certificat­es and gifts to the participan­ts.

The significan­ce of Kelani Visura is, gearing every participan­t with the ability to illustrate an electrical wire-laying plan of a house or a building during the session. Thus a particular technician becomes a person who could work shoulder-toshoulder with others in this competitiv­e field.

Kelani Visura which has thus become the leading workshop aimed at training novices and technician­s throughout Sri Lanka has been able to reach the milestone of training 16,000 technician­s to date.

Kelani Cables PLC by conducting training programs to uplift profession­al lives of budding electrical technician­s in the war- weary districts; Kilinochch­i, Jaffna, Vavunia, Batticaloa, Kalmunai, Ampara and Monaragala and other districts has engaged in a worthy cause towards uplifting the standards of the sector.

Mr. Channa Jayasinghe, brand developmen­t manager of Kelani Cables PLC expressing views at the workshop said, the company treats Kelani Visura CSR program as an investment made towards emergence of a new breed of world-class electrical technician­s.
