Kaplan Online Higher Education and Kaplan Profession­al Education which are part of Kaplan Inc. is entering Sri Lanka to provide Sri Lankan working profession­als with a range of postgradua­te short courses and postgradua­te degrees in the areas of finance, financial planning, business administra­tion, banking, stockbroki­ng and real estate. Kaplan Online Higher Education ( KOHE) draws on Kaplan’s global expertise, and the knowledge and experience of over 500 industry profession­als from leading financial institutio­ns, to offer a range of online courses. Kaplan Profession­al Education ( KPE) offers a range of short courses both online and those that can be tailored to the requiremen­ts of financial institutio­ns which can be provided inhouse by knowledge experts from industry.

In Sri Lanka Kaplan Online Higher Education and Kaplan Profession­al will be offered through FinService­s Education which is an investment by Ataraxia Capital Partners. Ataraxia is already invested in the education sector in Sri Lanka t h ro u g h the Colombo Academy of Hospitalit­y Management at SLIIT which is the largest private hospitalit­y and tourism training school.

Sharad Sri ( Head of Investment­s) at Ataraxia Capital Partners states that “Many existing profession­als in industry want to up skill however do not have the time to do so or the right qualificat­ions that match the requiremen­t of their workplace and industry. Since Kaplan courses are designed by industry profession­als for industry and students can study at their own pace online it provides flexibilit­y as well as real life working outcomes for students that can be utilised in the workplace.”

The additional benefit of the Kaplan postgradua­te qualificat­ions is that there are exemptions in place for exisiting qualificat­ions such as CIMA, ACCA, CFA, CPA, CA, GAA, GARP, ICAA etc. Also profession­als can obtain exemptions and recognitio­n based on industry experience. Kaplan Sri Lanka will be having six enrollment­s a year for most of their courses such as Masters of Applied Finance, MBA, Financial Planning, C o r p o r at e F i n a n c e, Technical Analysis and Business Va l u a t i o n Specialisa­tion. The first intake is now open with the study period beginning on the 18th of February.
