Derby MBA is amongst the best Masters programmes offered in Colombo for a variety of reasons. University of Derby is amongst the three highest ranked Universities offering MBA programmes in Colombo according to the UK Guardian 2015 Ranking. In UK, University of Derby is ranked 37 for Business and Management studies.

Currently 30 students are pursuing the Derby MBA with HRMI whilst over 70 are progressing towards completing Pre MBA which will lead them to the Research stage of the MBA. Derby, recognised by University Grants Commission – Sri Lanka is ranked first for student support, and third for lecture quality, learning technology and employability, out of all the UK’s modern universities. It’s one of only a few MBAs in the UK that has been accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) – the UK’s professional body for managers and leaders.

When embarking on an MBA, a prospective student must establish without doubt the credentials of the awarding institution and its academic reputation. The esteem and admiration, recognition and respect for a qualification are derived from the awarding institution. The subject coverage and its depth in the learning content is the ingredient that makes a difference in enhancing managerial competencies. The process of delivering learning and the academic guidance a student receives is the ultimate ‘acid-test’ for effectiveness. Derby, HRMI and Edexcel combination is a perfect example for recognition & respect, content & quality and delivery & support. The course work of the MBA programmes is delivered under Edexcel BTEC Level 7 Curriculum which is exclusively focused on Strategy. The Level 7 curriculum includes complete spectrum of subjects essential to give a comprehensive knowledge base at senior management level. It includes, (1) Strategic Planning (2) Strategic Change Management (3) Strategic Marketing Management (4) Strategic Human Resource Management (5) Strategic Supply Chain Management & Logistics (6) Creative and Innovative Management (7) Strategic Management and Leadership (8) Corporate Communication Strategies (9) Financial Principles and Techniques (10) Strategic Quality and Systems Management and (11) Professional Development for Strategic Managers.
