Studying with the University of London International Programme is one of the greatest opportunities a student gets in order to gain a world-class British degree through flexible study being at home. Students can opt to complete their intended degree by registering themselves via either Diploma route or Standard route.
The recently introduced International Foundation Programme from University of London International Programmes is a new academic pathway for students qualified in their Ordinary Level examinations, GCE, GCSE or IGCSE. The programme is offered with the academic direction of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), one of the top tertiary education institutes in the world for Economics. Students planning to pursue their degree studies in the said fields can be ahead of their peers in the conservative route of A/Ls.
Diploma route provides entry to LSE-led degrees for students who seek more teaching support and earn a recognised qualification after 1 year. The Diploma stage grants exemptions to the first year of the degree and students will be directed to commence the respective diploma: Diploma in Economics, Diploma in Social Sciences or Diploma in Law leading to the degree they intend to read. Registered students will be awarded a Diploma upon successful completion of the 1st year of study. The BSc and LLB programmes have also been designed by LSE-led academics and the qualitative teaching at RIC is one major contributing factor shaping the character of individuals which makes RIC graduates the most sought after in the job markets. Thus RIC students have reached different heights in their respective fields differentiating themselves from the rest. The subject areas on offer are: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Information Systems & Management, International Development, International Relations, Management & Mathematics and Law.
A Business Administration Degree is one of the most sought degrees by employers around the world since it covers a wide area of expertise. People with such qualification are believed to go that extra mile in general management. One significant trait of the programme is that it touches all key areas of a business. This differentiates the Business Administration students from other specialisations.
RIC now offers a Master of Laws – a postgraduate level qualification in Law from University of London equivalent to an MBA in Business and Management. The LL.M is offered through the University of London International Programmes, in which the academic direction is provided jointly by the Department of Law of Queen Mary (QMUL) and the University College London (UCL). The LL.M can be obtained by law graduates, and also non-law graduates can enrol in the programme if the first degree is in an area in –line with the desired specialisation of the LL.M. The specialisation areas which suit both the current global and local markets are: Commercial and Corporate Law, International Business Law, Intellectual Property Law, Financial Services Law and Banking and Finance Law.
Deakin University, Australia
The collaboration of the Royal Institute of Colombo with Deakin University is unique as it provides a pathway programme for students to commence their respective degrees at RIC and complete it at Deakin, Australia. This route is chosen by many students as it amply provides opportunities to fulfil their academic goals in obtaining an Australian degree while being able to live work and earn in Australia. The Deakin – RIC affiliation offers four degree programmes: Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Biomedical Science, Bachelor of Information
Technology, and Bachelor of Science.
RIC’s excellent track record in the University of London programmes
RIC is extremely proud that it enjoys an excellent track record of results even at the global level. In the academic year 2013-14, RIC students secured 12 Distinctions, 34 merits, 133 credit and simple passes in the Diploma programmes. Further, 380 students advanced to their 2nd year of studies in 14 different degree programmes offered with the Academic Direction of LSE. Our graduates also secured7 First Class (Honours) (listed below) and 119 Second Class (Honours) passes in the final year.
RIC produces numerous world prizes every year and maintains a 98% success rate in the final year. We are also very proud to announce that all five scholarships awarded by University of London for the best aggregate for Diploma in Law, Economics and Social Sciences were won by the following RIC students this year. Award winners will have their 2014-15 continuing registration and examination entry fees waived off by the University of London.
