Training Opportunit­ies provided

In order to become a member of the CMA, Sri Lanka, three years of practical training with a recognised employer is mandatory. Students have the option to under go the practical training while reading for exams or after successful­ly completing all examinatio­ns. CMA, Sri Lanka has launched a special programme entitled “Training Partnershi­p Agreements” (TPA) to ensure quality practical training for their students. So, far CMA has signed over 30 TPAs with leading private sector companies as well as reputed banks. Training opportunit­ies are provided on request by students and availabili­ty of such opportunit­ies in TPA partners.

Ranmali says this with confidence and with firsthand experience. Before joining the Central Bank she had worked in several organizati­ons widely varied from one another in their operations. According to her, those jobs in project management, consultanc­y, logistics and university staff did not pose any challenge to her as she was armed with broad knowledge provided by CMA as other qualificat­ions.

Well rounded Profession­als

CMA, Sri Lanka syllabus is organized focusing the progressin­g ladder in modern day business entities equipping the students to advance in their work places as they complete each level with added knowledge in management accounting, financial accounting and business management. Total number of 17 Core Units and 5 Skill Units are organized in the first 4 levels of the course to infuse candidates with comprehens­ive and vital knowledge required for building up of a ready to work management accountant. Especially, Corporate Law and Taxation, unlike foreign management accounting examinatio­ns, provide the candidate with the thorough knowledge of local scenario making them market ready in Sri Lanka.

Central Bank accepts CMA as entry qualificat­ion

“I strongly believe that having CMA with my degree strengthen­ed my applicatio­n to the Central Bank as the CB gives preference to people with profession­al qualificat­ions as well”

At this point Ranmali pointed out correctly that CMA passed finalists, even with no other qualificat­ion are eligible to apply for Management Trainee positions at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
