Macquarie University, Australia’s best modern university

Founded in 1964 by the New South Wales Gover nment, Macquarie was the third university to be establishe­d in the metropolit­an area of Sydney. It is consistent­ly ranked as one of the best universiti­es in Australia and has an internatio­nal reputation for being Australia’s best modern university.

Macquarie is located in the largest technology precinct in the Southern hemisphere. Because of this location, Macquarie degrees offer outstandin­g integratio­n with industry, providing the students with a superior learning environmen­t, enhanced internship opportunit­ies and greater exposure to the job market prior to graduation. A 2012 New York Times syndicated survey of global CEOs ranked Macquarie University in the top 100 universiti­es worldwide for their graduate recruitmen­t.

Macquarie’s Rankings

Macqaurie ranks amongst the top 300 universiti­es in the World (QS, 2014) and was awarded five stars in the internatio­nal QS Stars rating system for its performanc­e in: graduate employabil­ity, teaching, research, facilities, innovation, internatio­nalisation, access and specialist subjects. It is one of only 5 Australian universiti­es to receive 5 stars in all categories.

In 2014, Times Higher Education ( THE) ranked Macquarie University the No. 9 most internatio­nal university in the world.

The Macquarie Graduate School of Management MBA is ranked amongst the Top 100 Business Schools in the world by the Financial Times in Jan 2015 and also the Number 1 MBA in Australia.

Macquarie is ranked fifth in Australia for internatio­nal research publicatio­n collaborat­ions and fourth for research publicatio­ns per academic staff member. Three discipline­s at Macquarie - earth sciences, physical sciences and environmen­tal sciences - achieved the maximum rating (‘well above world standard’) in the 2012 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) evaluation.
