Gateway Kandy makes its mark in Netball

Gateway College Kandy emerged runners- up in the Under 19 inter International School Netball tournament organised by Ilma International School, which took place at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo.

The performance of the girls from Kandy has been improving over the years and this year they beat many leading schools in Colombo to enter the final. In the preliminary stage, Gateway Kandy overcame Alethea International School 13- 0, Colombo International School ( CIS) 9- 4 and Asian International School ( AIS) 6- 4. In the Quarter Finals, Gateway beat Lyceum International Panadura quite convincingly at 13- 1. In the semi- final with the hosts Ilma International School after a hectic battle Gateway emerged winners at 11- 8. In the final they lost to Lyceum Wattala at 7- 12.

Nuha Kufran of Gateway Kandy was chosen to be the Best centre court player of the tournament. Gateway College Colombo secured the third place in the tournament.
