If you wish to study medicine in Europe, the Faculty of Medicine of R ga Stradi š University (RSU) is an ideal choice. RSU has over 7000 students studying in a variety of departments that are accredited and recognized both nationally and internationally for the quality of their teaching and research. 14% of the total student body is made up of international students providing an exciting multi- cultural study environment.

The University’s oldest and most traditional faculty– the Faculty of Medicine – offers the most significant study block in medicine in Latvia. Due to its exceptionally high standard of education and attractive cost of study, RSU Faculty of Medicine is becoming increasingly popular among international students in Europe. It offers a full profession- al education program, so that upon the completion of their studies, graduates can successfully continue their education. They can do this either in their selected specialty’s residency program or medical field’s Masters Program in Latvia. They are also given the unique opportunity of being able to study in another country in the European Union.

Students will have the privilege of studying under the excel- lent guidance of professors from universities in both Latvia and abroad. The ratio of students to teachers is 17:1, therefore providing a superb learning environment. The comprehensive curriculum integrates patient contact from as early as the 3rd year of study enabling students to acquire the most up-to-date medical knowledge, in addition to clinical and non- clinical skills simultaneously.

The curriculum is delivered through a diverse variety of mediums including lectures and classes as well as patient history taking and problem-based learning. A huge emphasis is also placed on disease prevention and communication skills thereby giving RSU graduates a competitive edge both in Europe and globally.

Riga Stradins graduates are employed in prestigious institutions and organizations all over Europe and the degree obtained at RSU allows them to compete successfully in any European country.

SLMC Recognized Medical Degree

RSU is an ideal place to acquire a Doctor of Medicine (MD) qualification, which has solid recognition and acceptance by all medical councils in the world. The course duration is 6 years and students have the added advantage of the curriculum being taught in the English medium, though conversational Latvian helps in the clinical years of study.

Medical universities should fulfill certain criteria to be fully recognized by relevant Medical Councils around the world. The factors assessed include the duration of the program, the curriculum, the staff and facilities in the university and the teaching hospitals, as well as the location of the school. Riga Stradins University (RSU) meets all the above crite- ria. RSU is fully recognized by SLMC (Sri Lankan Medical Council) WHO (World Health Organization), GMC (General Medical Council) – UK, AMC (Australian Medical Council) – Australia, and the ECFMG (Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) – US and Canada.
