-

Sunshine Healthcare Lanka (SHL), a healthcare company, has partnered with Lactalis of France and UCB of Belgium to launch their innovative products in nutrition and pharmaceuticals to the local market. These products which are global brand leaders in ther respective categories, will provide consumers, patients and medical practitioners with a wide choice, the local company said.

Established in 1933, Lactalis is a family- owned dairy group based in France. Their range of products from cheeses, milk, cream, butter, ultrafresh, milk powder, has evolved considerably over the years, along with their reputation as a trusted brand. In Sri Lanka, Lactalis International will initially re-introduce its Celia range of nutrition products with a view to launching many other of their brands in the future.

UCB is a global biopharma company focused on severe diseases in two therapeutic areas: central nervous system and immunology. Established in 1928, it successfully transformed from a hybrid specialty chemical company into a patient- centric biopharma company, with a global revenue of 3.3 billion in 2014 and operations in approximately 40 countries.

Vish Govindasamy, Group Managing Director of Sunshine Healthcare, said. “The roots of this company goes back to a pharmacy set up by our family back in 1967. It was a time when the multinationals were strongly positioned here, and pharmacies like ours played a strong secondary role. However, as time passed we ourselves became agents for these international companies, which brought about the formation of SHL. In the past few decades we have grown in knowledge and stature and today we represent some of the top international brands in innovator drugs and generics.”
