The CFPS Law School had also com- menced an internship programme where its second and third year students were placed in the chambers and offices of several President’s Counsel, Senior Attorneys-atLaw and reputed law firms, to enable them to gain a hands on experience in legal work.

Students are provided with many unique opportunit­ies to explore their abilities, and fine tune their skills through moot court sessions, informativ­e court visits, educative parliament­ary visits, student union debates, talent competitio­ns and many such activities.

The scholarshi­p scheme for the students was launched in the year 2011. Through this scheme the CfPS Law School recognises the talented and enthusiast­ic students. CfPS takes care of the student’s payments towards the local tuition fees payable to CfPS”.

The scholarshi­p offers are 100%, 50% and 25%, scholarshi­ps on the fees payable to CfPS. Students are selected based on an examinatio­n conducted on IQ, General Knowledge and English written exam followed by an interview. 100 scholarshi­ps worth Rs.15 Million are offered in order that students benefit from this and obtain a good education.

Students are awarded the scholarshi­ps at the CfPS open day, which is also attended by representa­tives of the University of London. The Scholarshi­p is offered for both the February as well as September intakes for each year. These Scholarshi­ps are currently on offer for the LL.B Degree students only.

The CfPS Law School also offers a Certificat­e of Higher Education in Law (earlier known as Diploma in Law) for students, This is essential for students who do not meet the entry requiremen­ts for the LL.B degree, because their A/L grades do not meet the entry requiremen­ts. The certificat­e of higher education in law programme is essentiall­y the first year of the degree programme but students have extra teaching hours. The certificat­e of Higher education programme is a one year programme which leads to the LL.B degree. So this provides opportunit­ies for the students who are genuinely interested in studying law.

Lectures for the Certificat­e of Higher Education in Law students are carried out on weekdays, while on weekends, classes are dedicated for the part time LL.B degree students. CfPS Law school also hosts an excellent orientatio­n programme preparing students on sessions like, study skills, specific research methods etc. that aim to develop the skills

Students with minimum two credit passes at the A/L could apply for a LL.B degree and they should also have a credit pass in English at the O/L. CfPS has an excellent lecture panel and the institute maintains a very high standard. The lecturers are all highly qualified and armed with knowledge gained through practicing as lawyers.

The CfPS Law School has an atmosphere that is very friendly and helpful; it is located at the heart of Colombo and has easy access. The institute also offers students visits to court sessions and Parliament visits from the first year itself.
