IPM continues to provide cutting-edge programmes in HR
The Institute of Personnel Management (IPM), a Professional body incorporated by
Act of Parliament ( 1976) in Sri Lanka, continues to fortify the HR standards of HR practitioners by offering yet another new line of activities in 2015, initiated by the Committee for Uplifting the Human Resources profession (CUHRP).
The CUHRP was formed by IPM with the aim of further defining the HR profession by conducting national level HR surveys, as well as developing and disseminating publ i c ations such as ‘ HR Perspectives’ and other journals. It also conducts research, and facilitates networking and organizes seminars, while promoting various aspects of HR and other spheres, which ultimately contribute to the uplifting of HR as a profession. These endeavors are accomplished by the able support of academics, professionals and policy makers who collaborate with IPM to aid in the transferring of knowledge and the dissemination of HR values and perceptions within the HR fraternity.
CUHRP operates as a standing committee of IPM and has plans for conducting both paid and free workshops for professionals to enhance their knowledge on various aspects of HR. One such programme was held on the 27th of March 2015 at HR House, Colombo 5 on the important topic of ‘Research Methodology’.
Some of the pertinent topics that were covered during above workshop were learning the basics of writing a research report, review- ing of literature, and the mechanics of sampling and analysis of data. This workshop was geared towards students from various universities, and from other professional bodies as well as for current IPM students.
