FULL STEAM AHEAD FOR WYCHERLEY INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Three decades of Excellence and going strong

-

Committed in presenting an outstanding learning experience, be it in the classroom or beyond, top school Wycherley International continues to stand strong, having completed its third decade in the education sphere.

Established in 1985 to meet the dire need for education in English, providing its students with the well-acclaimed Cambridge system of education, Wycherley International School ( WIS) Principal Kingsley Jayasinghe expressed confidence in maintaining and continuing the quality education offered, as the school strives to implement innovative methods and best practices in terms of delivery.

DELIVERY OF A QUALITY EDUCATION

Pointing out that the school stands out in terms of delivering quality education having been in the field for 30 years, Jayasinghe said: “Cambridge Education is recognised the world over and is backed by one of the Number 1 Universities in the World which is the University of Cambridge. Our teachers are well trained and most of them have been in the school from inception.”

WIS has successfully implemented the Cambridge Curriculum since 2009.

Wycherley offers classes from Playgroup up to ‘A’ Levels and is the first and only school in Sri Lanka that offers the Cambridge Curriculum from UKG to A/Levels.

Students not only sit for their Cambridge O/ Levels, Advanced Subsidiary ( AS) Level and Advanced Level (AL) but also for Cambridge Checkpoint Examinations at Grade 5 and 8.

“The checkpoint gives our students an exposure to International Examinations at an early stage. Not only does this help the student but also the Parents, allowing them to asses their children’s strengths and weaknesses before it’s too late,” expressed Jayasinghe.

CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL CURRICULUM: A TICKET TO TOP UNIVERSITIES

The Cambridge International Education programme is an outstanding preparation for University and Employment and is valued by institutions and employers around the world. Cambridge Schools and Teachers prepare their learners to be confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged. While the curriculum is designed to be flexible for better integration, schools can choose all or part of it to suit their learners’ needs, as it offers a wide range of subjects available in any combination. The system also provides immense support for Teachers as well, through Publications, Online Resources and Training and invests constantly in Research and Development to improve its programmes.

Cambridge offers a clear structure to guide learners’ progression from the start of Primary to the end of Secondary Education, and owing to this unique guidance, Wycherley is distinguished as one of the top International Schools in Sri Lanka, that produces remarkable achievements at Examinations.

Past pupils of Wycherley, having gained excellence in their primary and secondary education have been accepted by prestigious universities in the UK, Australia, USA, Malaysia and Singapore with a large number of them studying medicine, engineering and law amongst other world class degrees.

WIS STUDENTS STAND OUT FROM THE REST

THE THREE PILLARS OF SUCCESS

For the past 30 years, Wycherley has held on to its motto: Tradition – Education – Excellence; which has proven to be one of the driving factors behind its success. While placing due emphasis on Excellence in Education, the school also focuses on Culture, Tradition and character building. It caters to both local as well as foreign students, providing a harmonious environment for children of various background nationalities to blend in with ease, learning to respect one another and work together in unity.

Though an international school, it firmly holds on to traditional roots and nurtures the children to understand and appreciate their culture and traditions. This was evident in their presentation of ‘Around the World in 80 Minutes’ which was a vibrant event held in March where the talented children performed in colourful costumes representing various cultures, showing their appreciation of tradition and diversity blending beautifully together – a practice which is eminent in Wycherley.
