Incentiwise – A Social Entrepreneurship Company Mobilising Sri-Lanka’s Change-Makers!

-

Our bias for action is propelled by the passionate need to be a part of and one with the communities in which we live, creating tangible social impact” says Tiasha Renganathan, Founder and Director of Incentiwise Private Limited, a newly launched company that endeavors to develop social entrepreneurship through incentivising entrepreneurs across the island, supporting them in their stride to create social impact.

As Sri Lanka journeys down the path of development the opportunity to improve the quality of life in our communities has never been greater hence creating an eco- system that fosters Social Entrepreneurship and working with key stakeholders in energizing this community is of utmost importance for the team behind Incentiwise. Developing incentive schemes executed via social impact challenges, provision of investment and business development services to social entrepreneurs and creating dialogue between thought leaders globally comprise the three pillars of the company’s scope for action. The team at Incentiwise is not afraid of redefining boundaries and consider themselves creators of a market for real and scalable impact, operating on the ethos of collaborative and active engagement encouraging experimentation and creativity. Director of Operations Bharathy Premachandra, states “We are a for profit company, on a mission to create a community of ‘do gooders’ who build sustainable businesses whilst balancing the needs for people, planet and profit”. She goes on to reiterate the importance of tangible and sustainable impact and so advocates social entrepreneurship where social impact strikes a balance with commercial opportunity creating livelihoods for those creating change, whilst giving them the ability to continue to create.

The companies first landmark project will be Sri Lanka’s first Social Impact Challenge undertaken in conjunction with Singularity University based in San Francisco, USA, which provides the winning entrepreneur the ‘incentive’ of a scholarship worth USD 35,000 to participate in the university’s Graduate Studies Programme for ten weeks in June 2015. The competition themed around ‘Smart Cities’ hopes to energize entrepreneurs to submit ideas that both harness technology and promote economic value creation and help shape a fast paced world, making it better, cleaner and more sustainable. Singularity University, recognized by Bloomberg TV to be “where the world’s brightest minds convene to attack the world’s toughest challenges” will no doubt be a unique opportunity for a Sri Lankan social entrepreneur looking to make a difference.
