APIIT LAW DEGREE FOUNDATION A NEW EDUCATION PATHWAY FOR TOMORROW’S LEGAL PRACTITIONERS
APIIT Law School has been in the forefront of legal education since 2009 providing quality legal education for students who aspire to gain an academic qualification in law that stands them apart from the competition.
The APIIT Law School believes in providing quality higher education opportunities to a wide spectrum of learners. In line with this thinking, the Law Degree Foundation Programme was established to prepare students after GCE O/ L to enter the First Year of the LLB ( Hons) Law Degree Programme. This Foundation Programme helps students to transition to the LLB Programme with an introduction to the Law and by arming themselves with effective study skills, technical skills, linguistic skills and subject skills.
Students with Five passes and a Credit Pass for English at the G. C. E, Ordinary L e v e l Examinat i o n may enrol in the Foundation Programme.
During the first semester, students are given a grounding in study skills. They will l e a r n Le g a l English, acquire IT Skills and gain a fair exposure to Law through introductory law modules. Further building on the foundation laid in the first semester, students acquire communication skills, legal skills and see Law in its proper context during the second semester. Computing and Information Technology is also covered in order to pave the way to enable these students to face the future with poise and confidence. APIIT’s strength of being in the forefront of IT education provides a unique opportunity for Law Degree Foundation students to become a new breed of tech savvy lawyers.
Our students benefit immensely from the interactive teaching methods such as role- play, where they step into the shoes of Judges, Learned Counsel, litigants and witnesses in their state- of- the art Moot Court. All students gain exposure to the practical workings of the law by visiting the Courts and Parliament. Debating and Mooting are integrated into the teaching programme along with Quizzes, Debates and Mock Trials.
