Award Ceremony of IDM Nations Campus Lanka: A celebration of success

The Award Ceremony 2015, of IDM Nations Campus Lanka was held on April 2 2015 at the BMICH.

It was a celebration of success for more than 200 students w ho received their Certificates, Diplomas & Higher Diplomas in the str eams of ICT/Business Management, Law & Multimedia.

IDM Nations Campus has a long standing history in the private higher education sector in Sri Lanka and has r eached several milestones in the tertiary education arena.

After IDM Nations Campus evolved into Nations Campus Lanka it has moved forward with se veral disciplines such as Business Management, Law, Sports Education & Engineering.

This year, the newly appointed IDM Nations Campus Board of Management led by CEO Vinayagmoorthy Janagan & President Prof. Dayantha Wijeyesekera decided to have two awarding ceremonies per annum for Diploma & Higher Diploma awardees & an annual convocation for those who have successfully graduated from their respective degree programmes.

Accordingly the 1st cer emony of this year was held on 2nd of April 2015 at the BMICH in an impressive manner.

The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest Prof. Lakshman Ra tnayake, Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), Prof. Dayantha Wijeyesekera - President of IDM Nations Campus Lanka, Eng. Lakshman S. de Alwis -Vice President (Operations) of IDM Nations Campus Lanka, Prof. Rohana P. Mahaliyanarachchi - Senior Academic Consultant of IDM Nations Campus Lanka & many other eminent persons representing Sri Lanka’s academic community.

This memorable occasion of Nations Campus awardees receiving locally & internationally recognized qualifications was wit - nessed by the par ents of successful awardees & the other distinguished guests.

In his speec h, Pr of. Lakshman Ratnayake stated that Nations Campus Lanka is an asset to Sri Lanka, making a significant contribution towards establishing a knowledge society in the country. While appreciating Nations Campus’ service to the nation, he further commented that two former Vice Chancellors of Sri Lankan universities are members of the Board of Management of this Institute, and this has already created a substantial degree of confidence among the pub lic with regard to the quality of Nations Campus programmes and its services.

Moreover, he announced that the students who successfully complete the International Higher Diploma awarded by EdHat U.K could complete their degree at SLIIT since EdHa t Inter national qualifications have been ma pped with SLIIT qualifications and have been recognized for that purpose.

Addressing the occasion, Prof. Dayantha Wijeyesekera, President of Na tions Campus Lanka, stated that programmes conducted by IDM Nations Campus Lanka will be recognized locally & internationally since it is an institute registered under the Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission.

He also mentioned tha t the institute adheres to the standards of the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework under the guidance of Prof. Nimal Dangalle, Head of the Quality Assurance team of IDM Nations Campus Lanka, and that this will ensure that students w ho acquire Nations Campus certifications will have the benefit of securing worthwhile employment in the competitive job market.

Moreover, in his speech he mentioned that IDM Nations Campus Lanka is guided by a renowned Academic Board whose members have long experience in the management of the tertiary education sector of Sri Lanka, led b y its CEO Vinayagamoorthy Janagan who is a visionary thinker, and this will guarantee that the org anization will continue to produce competent resource persons to support the knowledge society.

This impressive ceremony was a joyous occasion where students who entered Nations Campus as young school leavers finally acquired the fruits of their hard labour, as successful Diploma & Higher Diploma holders. The next award ceremony is scheduled for August 2015 while the convocation will be held in July 2015.
