“At NCHS I have got a good understanding of how an engineer should think and work” - Thilan Vimukthi Rathnayake

“I studied at Ananda College and during my time in school as far as I can remember, speed, direction and vectors always fascinated me and that led me to be a part of the hockey team at my school. Attacking and getting the ball into the goal fascinated me and gave me great joy. I also loved being part of a team, bringing glory to my alma mater. Where studies were concerned, I was also very fascinated with numbers and solving problems and the more mathematics problems I did, the happier I became.

After successfully completing my O/L I decided to pursue the dream of engineering as it gave me the opportunity to conquer and solve harder problems. Once I completed my A/L’s, I joined Swinburne College to make my dream a reality.” Is NCHS helping you to go forward in your ambition? Give reasons for your answer.

NCHS helps me get an Australian education right here at home where I am most comfortable. This allows me to get used to the Australian way of education before I go there, mak- ing the transition much easier than it would have been. What are the highlights of your tenure at NCHS?

During my time in NCHS I have made very good friends and also I got a good understanding of how an engineer should think and work. The lab sessions and the very friendly lectures made learning fun and a very enjoyable experience .NCHS creates a great atmosphere which I was very impressed by during my 2 semesters here. Any advice that you would like to give future students? My advice would be to work hard and pay attention in lectures and at the same time play a game of pool when stuck in a difficult problem then come back and attempt it, this works all the time! Always remember to enjoy what you learn.
