IPM Sri Lanka, the Nation’s Leader in Human Resource Management on Wednesday, 6th announced the launch of National HR Conference 2015 which will be held under the theme, ‘HR for National Prosperity, Insights, Initiatives and Implications, at a well attended Media Briefing organised at the HR House, in Colombo.

As the torchbearer of the country’s HR Profession, IPM Sri Lanka has ap t ly dedicated this year’s Conference to educate the citizenry on the role played by ‘human resources’ in ushering National Prosperity. Accordingly, the conference will create a platform for the country’s HR fraternity to deliberate upon the Insights, I n i t i a t ive s , and Implications of people management practices that can deliver prosperity to both the people and the country at large.

Addressing the media, the President of IPM Sri Lanka, Mr. Rohitha Amarapala averred that

National Prosperity encompasses a variety of aspects including economic development, social wellbeing, environmental protection and peaceful co-existence, and hence both public sector administrators and private sector managers have a crucial role to play in ushering a prosperous nation. “This is more critical in the post-war Sri Lanka with accelerated development taking place on all fronts. Human Resources (HR) as a profession cannot operate in isolation ignoring these realities,” he added.

Chairman of NHRC 2015 Dr. Ajantha Dharmasiri who spearheads both the Conference Committee and Technical Committee stated that National HR Conference which is tagged as South Asia's biggest HR event is going to be even bigger, better and brighter. “It will feature a combination of eminent international and local speakers with private and public sector collaboration. Insights, Initiatives and Implications with regards to HR for National Prosperity will be the subject area in focus. A novel session lineup with more time for discussions will make the participants actively involved in the proceedings and I can assure all participants a refreshing difference," stated Dr. Dharmasiri giving an overview of the Conference.

Dr. Ajantha Dharmasiri further added that the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) Sri Lanka, being responsive to the national needs, decided to focus this Year’s National HR Conference to reflect on and relate to its obligations to the nation. “HR can be a bridge between private and public sectors as its key functions have an overarching effect on utilizing the most precious resource of any organization. Ironically, we have an over-emphasis on private sector HR with less focus on the public sector. This should be rectified through a sensible dialogue on best HR practices and their applicability to both private and public sectors alike. National HR Conference (NHRC 2015) intends to fill this void in a meaningful and memorable manner,” he revealed.
