It was mentioned that the meeting was arranged to strengthen both entities and it was really well attended by all the senior staff at Swinburne including the Vice Chancellor, Prof.Linda Kirstjanson.
“The Swinburne and NCHS teams are looking at further expansion of programs in Sri Lanka due to the commitment of Swinburne echoed during our visit” Dr. Coomaraswamy was happy to announce.

“The commitment of the Swinburne University of Technology is continuously seen in the active role taken.” Victor stated. He explained that over 10 members of the Swinburne staff from Australia have visited Sri Lanka in the last few months. “NCHS is a Swinburne entity and the commitment demonstrated by all is encouraging!”

“We are happy to have Tim Field, Business Development Mana g er, Swinburne University of T e c h n o l o g y, Australia, with us in Sri Lanka. They have come to ensure that our students have a smooth and successful transition from NCHS to the Australian campus.” Victor added.
“The first batch of NCHS students (Nawaloka College of Higher Studies) is about to go to Australia!” enthusiastically reiterated Tim Field, Business Development Manager, Swinburne Un1iversity of Technology, Australia. He explained that this is a very exciting time of transition for the students.
In order to facilitate the transition, Tim explained that he had sessions with all the students who are progressing on the path. “The standard of the students is a credit to the staff at NCHS. The level of interest and quality is excellent.” he said.
“The reality is that quality is the key”, Tim stated. Same standard in all campuses worldwide
He said that the programs are designed to mirror one another in every campus. “A convener from the Hawthorn Campus in Australia is in direct contact with the representatives in Sri Lanka and Malaysia. This creates a connection for communicat i o n . Systems, reports, program expectations are shared through this connection.
“Swinburne has a sound system of providing material and sharing the learning methodology. There has been a fantastic interchange. Learning has happened from both sides.” added Dr. Alan Robertson, Dean of Studies, Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.
Global facilities locally
“It is a collaborative partnership.” Alan said in agreement. It was explained that the commitment shown by all partners since the inception has made it successful. “For example, we catered to all the requirements needed for the sophisticated engineering laboratory. No expenses were spared in meeting the requirements!” he explained.
“All the facilities needed are available.” Dr.Alan said. “The resources are the same and the teaching is mirrored”. This enables the students to enjoy the high standards of Swinburne from the comfort of their own homes!
