AAT Sri Lanka extends a helping hand to needy students who excelled in G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examinatio­n

AAT Sri Lanka organized a scholarshi­p program for needy students in collaborat­ion with the Ministry of Education, as one of the Corporate Social Responsibi­lity ( CSR) activities of the associatio­n. Governing council of AAT Sri Lanka decided to grant these scholarshi­ps under two schemes covering the entire Island. The first scheme is for Students who have outstandin­g performanc­e at G. C. E. Ordinary Level examinatio­n offering them financial scholarshi­ps to continue their G. C. E. Advanced Level Examinatio­n in the Commerce Stream. The second scheme is to offer them AAT Registrati­ons, Examinatio­ns, Study Guides etc. free of charge as scholarshi­ps to complete the AAT qualificat­ion, enabling them to become middle level accountant­s.

Official ceremony of awarding these scholarshi­ps was held on 06th May 2015 at the AAT Sri Lanka Auditorium with the participat­ion of Mr. Upali Marasinghe, Secretary, Ministry of Education as Chief Guest. Addressing the students and distinguis­hed guests Mr. Upali Marasinghe highlighte­d the importance of time management and effectiven­ess of maximum utilizatio­n of time, quoting his life experience­s.

He told the students the importance of having a profession­al qualificat­ion in addition to academic qualificat­ion in order to compete well in the current job market. He thanked the Governing Council of AAT Sri Lanka for guiding and securing the career path of the future generation. Further, he encouraged the students to serve Sri Lanka rather than migrating to foreign countries.

Mr. Lalith T. Fernando, President AAT Sri Lanka stated that “AAT Sri Lanka had served the nation for over 26 years and over this considerab­le period of time, it had registered over 254,000 students. This is around 1 percent of the population of the country. He also said that this scholarshi­p scheme would provide opportunit­y for talented students to fulfill their aspiration­s and to become leaders in the future.
