AAT Sri Lanka extends a helping hand to needy students who excelled in G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination
AAT Sri Lanka organized a scholarship program for needy students in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, as one of the Corporate Social Responsibility ( CSR) activities of the association. Governing council of AAT Sri Lanka decided to grant these scholarships under two schemes covering the entire Island. The first scheme is for Students who have outstanding performance at G. C. E. Ordinary Level examination offering them financial scholarships to continue their G. C. E. Advanced Level Examination in the Commerce Stream. The second scheme is to offer them AAT Registrations, Examinations, Study Guides etc. free of charge as scholarships to complete the AAT qualification, enabling them to become middle level accountants.
Official ceremony of awarding these scholarships was held on 06th May 2015 at the AAT Sri Lanka Auditorium with the participation of Mr. Upali Marasinghe, Secretary, Ministry of Education as Chief Guest. Addressing the students and distinguished guests Mr. Upali Marasinghe highlighted the importance of time management and effectiveness of maximum utilization of time, quoting his life experiences.
He told the students the importance of having a professional qualification in addition to academic qualification in order to compete well in the current job market. He thanked the Governing Council of AAT Sri Lanka for guiding and securing the career path of the future generation. Further, he encouraged the students to serve Sri Lanka rather than migrating to foreign countries.
Mr. Lalith T. Fernando, President AAT Sri Lanka stated that “AAT Sri Lanka had served the nation for over 26 years and over this considerable period of time, it had registered over 254,000 students. This is around 1 percent of the population of the country. He also said that this scholarship scheme would provide opportunity for talented students to fulfill their aspirations and to become leaders in the future.
