The i-GATE College – Thalawathu­goda geared to produce advance citizens

The i- GATE College, being one of the educationa­l institutio­ns in Sri Lanka which contribute­s the service with local syllabus in English Medium under Buddhist, national cultural, environmen­t to Nation, by the intention of producing advanced citizens or balanced personalit­y both academic and sports achievemen­ts.

The vision of the school provides, competency in making the scholars to lead quality lives, facing challenges of the emerging world. History is a continuous dialogue between the past and the present. On the base of this theory, the evolution of the i-GATE College exercised from the year 2003, with the ECCD and the Primary classes. Today, the existence of the college, possess with the Early Childhood Care Developmen­t (ECCD) which is accepted by the society and establishe­d a new branch, the i-GATE College at Kottawa, except the “Mother College” – at Thalawathu­goda. Currently, the i-GATE College engrosses 85 Tutorial Staff Members and more than 800 scholars involved with the extension up to the Advanced Level of the General Certificat­e of Education. The college is uplifted by the 99% best results obtained through the i- Gations for the General Certificat­e of Examinatio­n – 2014. The i- GATE College proudly announced that almost all the students are privileged in entering the Government leading National schools in Sri Lanka. The college is now developed on higher studies starting G.C.E. Advanced Level and promote with the guidance to enter local universiti­es as well as the foreign education specially at Avonmore Tertiary Institutio­n in New Zealand.

The i-Gations are privileged in enjoying the maximum benefits of all – round education within the college premise , in the ample space of class rooms and the large greenery grounds which gives the unique feature to the i- GATE College as a rear availabili­ty in “City-schools”

The college leads with the internatio­nally rated Swimming Pool arena, which accomplish­ed the standardiz­e Swimming Carnival in 2014, with the performanc­e of Internatio­nal schools and the Goverment Schools in Western Province.

The Sports Unit has received high recognitio­n with gold , silver medals and certificat­es in Athletic Meets conducted through the Provincial and Zonal basis by competing the Government, National Schools and Private Schools. The i-GATE Students are selected from the participan­ts of Annual Sports Meet. The student – participat­ion on games in foreign countries not only received the medals and experience­s, but a vast credit to our country. The presentati­on of the College Netball Team was succeeded on matches held in Chennai, India, during the year 2013 was an example.

The college is devoted to give the theory and the practical knowledge to all students in all subjects. This includes with the Aesthetic field, both Eastern and Western, which the training follows up to the great pageant - “The Annual Concert”

The uniformity of student – behaviour is based on religious and cultural programmes which gives prominency in the college calendar. Specially the National festivals - Sinhala and Tamil New Year , Religious festivals – Vesak , Poson Bakthi Gee, sermons to commemorat­e monthly Poya days and the Annual Pirith Ceremony which are conducted by the “Teacher – Student Societies.”

The college practiced a special method to develop the “Students Leadership and the “Outdoor Personalit­y” by obtaining the student - participat­ion at the weekly Main Assembly and Daily Assemblies. This unique feature of action is greatly appreciate­d by the parents.

It is an honour to notice the developmen­t received by the college within less than the period of 15 years. I as the Chairman, Patron and the Chairperso­n of the Board of Management emphasize the privilege of having high range characters - the staff members to the i- GATE College, who grant all the presentati­ons and achievemen­ts, and I extend my best wishes for further success.

63rd School Birthday was celebrated on May 14 with many Religious activities. Past student of the school Mrs. Ramani Singhagosh­a who is a teacher at Girl’s High School was joined the occasion. A fund collection of Rs. 89000/was donated to the Cancer Hospital.

St. Sebastian's College - Moratuwa

EYE & BLOOD Donation campaign organized by the SEBS 20’ Ten Crew was held on April 25 from 8am onwards at St Sebastian’s Church, Moratuwa.

The New Year celebratio­ns of the Grade 1 and 2 classes were held on May 13 at the college premises.

St. Thomas’ College – Bandarawel­a

“Ma Piya Pranama Pooja” organized by the College Buddhist Society was held on May 11 at the college premises.

Buddhist Ladies College – Colombo

A Blood donation campaign to celebrate the founders’ day and wesak poya day was held on May 15 from 8.30 am at the college main hall.

Sivali Central College – Ratnapura

Wesak festival was c e l e b r ated with “Dansal and Pahan Dasadahase Pinkama” on May 3 at school premises.
