EWIS, Unilever, Emerchemie NB and Union Assurance PLC advanced to the semi-finals of the 13th David Pieris Group of Companies sponsored ‘DPGC’ Challenge Trophy, MCA ‘E’ division 30Over League Tournament 2015.In the Quarter Finals played last weekend, EWIS scored a convincing six wickets win over Citizens Devp. Bank; Unilever scored a hard fought 22 runs win over Amana Takaful Insurance; Emerchemie NB coasted to a fine 24 runs win over Eagle Logistics; while Union Assurance snatched a six runs win over Pizza Hut. Opener, Buddhi Ramanayake hit a belligeren­t century (143 in 77 balls, inclusive of 10 sixes and 14 fours), to propel HSBC ‘C’ to a resounding 130 runs win over Copal Amba, in the ongoing 2nd Sierra Informatio­n Technologi­es Ltd., sponsored, MCA ‘F’ division 25-Over League Tournament 2015, played for the Sierra IT Trophy, continued last weekend.

A quick-fire 150 runs stand in 92 balls for the 2nd wicket between Ruwan Kumara (65) and Kumara Rodrigo (81 in 52 balls with four sixes and eight fours) and an inspired spell of right arm medium fast bowling by K.R. Athula (4-0-24-5) steered Elastomeri­c to a fine 75 runs win over MAC Holdings.

Debutants, QP Employment registered their second win beating Nippon Paint by seven wickets, as the win was fashioned by S.T. Nanayakkar­a (5 for 30 in 5 overs) and T.S. Irudeen (82 not out in 58 balls with two sixes and 10 fours).

The spotlight also fell on T.
