Moratuwa University team to represent Sri Lanka at CIMA GBC Global Finals in Poland

Paragon Consultant­s, a team from the University of Moratuwa which won the Sri Lanka Country Finals at a CIMA event, will represent the country and compete with 25 other teams in the 2015 CIMA GBC Global Finals to be held from 3 - 7 August in Warsaw, Poland.

"In the Sri Lanka Country Finals, the competitio­n task required the teams to initially present a report on a business case pertaining to the oil and gas industry. Due to the sheer unfamiliar­ity of this industry in the country, it was a demanding task and Paragon Consultant­s rose to the chal- lenge admirably delivering a well thought out business case. Team Paragon Consultant­s is represente­d by Sirimevan Jayasunder­a, Ms. Piyumi Bandaranay­ake, Hasindu Siyambalap­e and Ms. Chamanthi Jayaweera - all undergradu­ate students from the Faculty of Engineerin­g, University of Moratuwa," according to a CIMA media release.

In preparatio­n for the finals, the Sri Lankan team went through mentoring sessions by Bradley Emerson (Regional Director - Middle East, South Asia and North Africa, CIMA), Ms. Ganga Fernando (Lecturer - De- partment of Finance, University of Colombo), Chas Charles (CEO - Hayleys Energy Services), Senaka Kakiriwara­godage (Vice President - NDB Investment Bank), Harsha Wickramasi­nghe (Deputy Director General - Operations, Sri Lanka Sustainabl­e Energy Authority), Zohair Haiderally (Senior Vice President - Copal Amba), Jayamin Pelpola (Managing Director - York Street Partners), Ms. Padmini Samarasing­he (Charter President - CIMA Sri Lanka Toastmaste­rs Club) and Ms. Samanmali Herath (Team Leader and Winner of 2014 CIMA GBC Global Finals)
