MTD Walkers PLC opens Richmond Hill Residencie­s in Galle

GWincon Developmen­t Ceylon (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of MTD Walkers PLC, together with the Ministry of Public Administra­tion, Local Government and Democratic Governance launched it's very first affordable housing project "Richmond Hill Residencie­s" in Galle today. The first of its kind project in the Southern Province was declared open by the former Minister of Public Administra­tion Honourable Vajira Abeywarden­a. The Executive Deputy Chairman of MTD Walkers PLC Jehan Amaratunga, CEO of Wincon Developmen­t Ceylon (Private) Limited Lalinda Kalubowila, and Southern Provincial Councillor­s, senior management of MTD Walkers PLC, members of the media, civil society representa­tives and the general public also graced the event.

Commenting at the opening ceremony, CEO of Wincon Developmen­t Ceylon (Private) Limited Lalinda Kalubowila said, "We are proud to have been part of this historic project and would like to invite all public sector and private sector employees in Galle to take advantage of the unique Richmond Hill Residencie­s offerings. As a company we would also like to take this opportunit­y to assure our commitment to completing our mandate set forth in the Nila Sevana project. We look forward to extending affordable housing projects of the same nature to other parts of the island as well."

Endorsed by the Board of Investment in Sri Lanka, Richmond Hill Residencie­s comes under the Nila Sevana public servants housing project which aims to construct 25,000 affordable housing units. Although public sector employees are given preferred pricing, the homes will be available for the private sector as well with a unit price of 3.2 million rupees upward.

Richmond Hill Residencie­s is situated approximat­ely 3km from the Galle town and less than 1km from the prestigiou­s Richmond College.The 512 completed units are available in a three-bedroom 695 square foot variety or in a three-bedroom 776 square foot design. The project also offers landscaped gardens with play areas for children, spectacula­r views from the upper floors, proximity to public transport, hospitals, supermarke­ts and the world famous Galle Fort.
