Custom-made BTEC programs from Alethea

-

The world has become a far more demanding place, and the needs of the students, the needs of their parents and the needs and requirements of their perspective employers are constantly evolving. In order to survive in the professional world, simply having excellent academic qualifications would not be sufficient and many students attend institutes where they can obtain vocational qualifications after finishing their education.

Unlike classroom-based academic qualifications, which are typically assessed through exams, vocational qualifications are taught in a more practical manner and are assessed by the trainer through practical assessments.

Reputed for their excellence in academics, Alethea International School, has had a longstanding association with Pearson Edexcel and many students have benefited from their quality programmes at both ordinary levels and advanced levels. Taking into consideration the requirements of its students, Alethea will launch a custom-made BTEC vocational qualification programme by Edexcel from July, 2015.

Alethea will offer Edexcel’s Certificate, Extended Certificate, Diploma and Extended Diploma programmes along with London(Cambridge & Edexcel) & Local O/L’s and A/L’s. From the month of July, students will have the opportunity to select from a combination of traditional subjects along with BTEC subjects; Business and Engineering. As optional subjects, the students can select from Hospitality, Art and Design and Information Technology.

The students, particularly for those who opt to follow the Diploma and Extended Diploma programmes, will be given the opportunity to offer the subjects alongside their O/L or A/L subjects or as a complete alternative for these examinations. Alethea has made arrangements with several corporations so that students will be given industrial exposure.

The lessons will be conducted by the inhouse lecturers at Alethea and industry experts and students will be able to receive a British qualification, without having to travel overseas.

A school is responsible for not just providing theoretical knowledge to a student. It must also take action to develop the students’ humanity, compassion and tolerance. Alethea as a secondary education provider is focused on building a holistic individual for the society. To that end, the school promotes unity and respect between students from different religious and social backgrounds and insists on students engaging in community service activities.

Alethea also offers a host of extracurricular activities for the students including numerous sports activities such as Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Football, Karate, Netball, Swimming, Scouting, UN Club, Interact Club, Gavel Club, Mother Sri Lanka programme as well as various societies. The sports activities are conducted by trained and recognized coaches and the school insists on each student engaging in 1 extracurricular activity and 1 sport.

The qualified Alethea teaching staff is also versed in student psychology and are approachable and willing to support any student. The school also holds continuous training activities for the teachers throughout the year.
