Negombo Toastmasters set sail on another year of voyage

- The following members were installed

The beginning of another term. It is only the beginning and the end that prove to be memorable for many. Negombo Toastmasters Club held their officer installation ceremony for the term 2015/2016, on the 12th of July at Paradise Beach Hotel, Negombo. The ceremony revolving around the theme , “Bidding Farewell to the Past and Welcoming the Future”, saw many familiar toastmaster faces whom attend the event.

Negombo Toastmasters since its inception had aimed for excellence and in its efforts to do so, nurtured many champions. Every year, a champion emerged from the club, as one member or another represented the club at divisional level. The club was formed on the premise that the community of Negombo required a conducive speaking skills training environment. The club aims at providing a learning experience at each of its meetings. Thereby, each attendee would not exit the doors without contributing new input. This term too, the Club shows a promising outlook as fresh faces take up responsibilities and strive to take the club forward.

The ceremony’s focal point was in the Chief Guest’s address, District Club Growth Director, Ajantha Jayawardena. He emphasized the importance of the involvement of not only the charter members but all the past executive committees. “There is a lot of learning to be acquired from the past. If the old members are not involved, a club is likely to lack vision and the experience”, he said.

In addition, the outgoing President, Sudath Fernando walked down the toastmaster memory lane as he reminisced his memories. The address was aptly followed by a video compil- ing the most important memories of the last term.

Thereafter, the officer installation was conducted by Area Director, Mohamed Marzook while the officer pining was carried out by Division Director, Bernadine Jayasinghe. The formal installation of officers was concluded with the speech by the President for the term 2015/2016 Kabindran Vijaykumar.

The installation was followed by the giving away of tokens of appreciation by Past Area Director Veena Jayawickrama.

The ceremony marked its ending with the vote of thanks in which special thanks were extended to the outgoing executive committee and all the guests who graced the occasion with their presence.
