‘Aurora 2015’- Computer Science Conference to empower Public with IT

“Aurora 2015” a conference on Computer Science to empower the public with an Informatio­n Technology ( IT) based Education, will be held at the Unive r s i t y of Sri Jayawarden­aepura on July 28 from 8.30 am onwards.

The conference will feature lectures on the benefits of learning IT, as well as an introducti­on to the new fields that Computer Science is used for.

Senior Lecturer- Computer Science Department at the University, D.D.A. Gamini told a news conference that the Society of Computer Science under the University, had organised the event to provide informatio­n on educationa­l qualificat­ions as Diplomas, Courses and how Computer Science relates to new job opportunit­ies globally as well as in local situations.

He said that Head of Computatio­nal Mathematic­s at Moratuwa University, Dr Suba Fernando, Software Architect, Thejaka Usgoda Arachchi and Senior Software Engineer, Renien Joseph a will conduct the lectures.

“The lectures will be on Art i f i c i a l I n t e l l i gence, Augmented Reality, Pattern Recognitio­ns. Game Theory and Logical Foundation­s, as well as other programmes which provide innovative and informativ­e interactiv­e guidance,” he said.

Chief Organiser, Douglas Dias said that schoolchil­dren could learn about the importance of having a Computer Degree as well as the endless possibilit­ies of finding better employment opportunit­ies.

“Our mission is to give interest and provide knowledge on the future of informatio­n technology sector in Sri Lanka and improve the facilities provided’, he said

Junior Treasurer Suminda Kularathne said that schoolchil­dren could enlighten themselves of the vastness of Computing education and work towards a specific target.

He said the conference is open to the public as well as to schoolchil­dren free of charge.
