One new Sri Lanka record, one meet record on day two

The second day’s proceeding­s of the 93rd Athletics National Championsh­ip held at the Diyagama Stadium yesterday saw a new Sri Lanka record being establishe­d and one new meet broken -- both in the women’s category.

The first record for the day was in women’s pole vault event where Anoma Karunawans­a of Army broke her own national record of 3.32m with a new height of 3.33m while the second record which was a new meet record which came in the women’s triple jump event with Vidusha Lakshani of Newstead BV Negombo representi­ng Sri Lanka Schools AA with a leap of 13.30m.

It was Lakshani’s second gold medal of the championsh­ip having won the long jump event on day one. Meanwhile Army dominated the proceeding­s. They won most of the events from the 15 finals results that were released from the 17 finals that were scheduled to be held for the day. Today is the final day of the championsh­ip.
