Regent International College emerge champions for 5th consecutive year

The 12thAnnual Gampaha District Swimming Meet organised by Regent International College was successfully held on July 4 and 5 at the Regent International College Swimming Pool.

Lankika Melani Fernando of Ave Maria Convent Negombo won Best Swimmer in Girl’s Category while Abilasha Portzman of Regent International College and Pasindu Sirimanna of Bandaranayaka College Gampaha were declared joint champions for the Best Swimmer’s award in Boy’s Category.

Regent International College won Girls’ championship while Bandaranayaka College and Loyola College Negombo became joint Boys champions. St. Peter’s College Negombo was the first runnerup in Boys and Viharamaha Devi Balika Vidyalaya Kiribathgoda was the first runner-up in Girls.

The Regent International College Challenge Trophy was won by hosts Regent International College for the fifth consecutive year obtaining 446 points. After obtaining 291 points St. Peter’s College Negombo became the overall runner-up.

Ruwan Manawadu (Head coach of St. Joseph’s College Colombo) graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest of the meet.

The swimming meet was conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) and the meet was sanctioned and officiated by SLASU officials. Regent International College sponsored the event together with Sri Lanka Insurance, Makeen Book Shop, Ceylon Cold Stores Limited, Metropolitan Agencies, Tech Waters, nCinga Company Limited, Water Plus and Nippon Paints. More than 600 talented young swimmers representing more than 40 reputed International and National Schools in Gampaha District participated in different events conducted for different age categories.
