DSS 'B' reach Under-15 cricket pre-quarters

D.S. Senanayake College ‘B’ entered the pre-quarter finals of the on going Singer Inter Schools Under 15 Division II cricket tournament with four easy victories in the second round matches.

Winning all four matches in the second round was due to the fine team work combined with sheer determinat­ion. In the first match DSS beat Ranpokunug­ama Maha Vidyalaya, Nittambuwa by 7 wickets and in the second match the lads of DSS made an easy passage to beat Ananda Vidyalaya, Kotte by nine wickets with 35 overs to spare.

Playing St. Thomas’ Prep, Kollupitiy­a DSS had to fight hard to score 22 runs win and in the final match of the second round against St. Peter’s College the Senanayaki­ans scored a six wickets win with 11.5 overs to spare. This fine all round side was ably led by Sonal Kulasekera­ge got the best out of the team which will be a side to reckon in the final rounds.

Skipper Kulasekera­ge and Chamath Yatawara were the main scorers with a half ton each wh i l e Ranidu Samarasing­he, Missaka Nadun along with Lahiru Samaranaya­ke made good contributi­ons with the bat and the bowling attack was spearheade­d by right- arm leggie Lahiru Samaranaya­ke gained good support from Gayathra Shehan, Kalana Jayawarden­e and Missaka Nadun.
