Little Mix single debuts at No. 1

The all girl group Little Mix was able to cast a magical spell over the UK singles chart as their new song ‘Black Magic’ debuted straight at the No:1 spot. The song released digitally on 10th July pushed a combined 113,000 sales to give Little Mix their third No:1 UK song. The band was put together during the 2011 X-Factor season and became the first group to win the competitio­n too. Almost immediatel­y they gained their first No: 1 with ‘Cannonball’. The next No: 1 was ‘Wings’ in 2012. The current No:1 ‘Black Magic’ is a dance pop track is the first release from the group’s next album ‘Get Weird’. ‘Black Magic’ is co- written by Camille Purcell, Ed Drewett, Edvard Forre Erfjord and Henrik Michelson. Little Mix make up of Jade Thirlwill, Perrie Edwards, LeighAnne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson. Meanwhile Jesy Neslon accepted Jake Roche’s proposal for marriage at the Manchester Arena on Sunday 19th July during a Little Mix sound check. As the Rixton band leader went down on one knee, Ed Sheeran serenaded the couple with ‘Tenerife Sea’. The dance cover version of the song ‘Show Me Love’ by Sam Feldt was the second highest song to debut on the UK singles chart at No: 4. The song features the vocals of Kimberley Anne. Sam Feldt is a Dutch DJ who also produced his own rendition of ‘Show Me Love’. The original version by Robin S peaked at the No: 6 spot back in 1993 on the UK chart. E llie Goulding will release her new album before the end of this year. She is collaborat­ing with Max Martin and Jim Elliot. Ellie meanwhile is widely believed to have recorded the theme song to the new James Bond film Spectre. Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams have won an appeal in the case involving the ‘Blurred Lines’. US District Judge John Kronstadt in Los Angeles ruled both Thicke and Williams will now have to pay $3.2 million in total for copyright infringeme­nt to the Marvin Gaye family. The duo appealed earlier March court ruling where they were ordered to pay $7.4 million. Pharrell will have to pay only $358,000. Rapper T.I who was earlier cleared of wrong doing was now liable for copyright infringeme­nt according to the new ruling. The Gaye family will now get 50% of future revenue from ‘Blurred Lines’. d Sheeran has unveiled first artist on his label Gingerbrea­d Man. Jamie Lawson a singer songwriter will release his debut album ‘Wasn’t Expecting That’ in October.
