‘Funny Money’ completes 50

ill. Roshan admits her to a private hospital and provides her with all the medical affection and other necessitie­s she needs. He does all the spending without requesting money from his powerful father and at one point he sells out his antique motor bike which he loved very much to meet the huge hospital bills. However Serena unfortunat­ely dies, despite Roshan’s generous attempts to save her. After her death, as he comes out of hospital he accidental­ly sees a joyful couple passing by on his antique motor bike. The main role of Roshan and Serena are play by Anuj Ranasinghe, Dinakshie Priyasad Produced and directed by Chandran Rutnam, Nihara Jayatillek­e, Jayantha Jayatillak­e, and Carl Fernando are associate producers.

The 50th show of Sinhala adaptation of British playwright Ray Cooney’s ‘Funny Money’ will go on the boards as “Saadaya Maarai Salli Hamarai” at 3.30 pm 6.30pm at Colombo University’s new art centre (Nawa Kalagaraya) on August 1.

Directed by Dharmapriy­a Dias the play won awards for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Stage management at the State drama festival 2015.

The cast consists of Gihan Fernando, Jayani Senanayake, Giriraj Kaushalya, Anuradha Perera, Dayadewa Edirisingh­e ,Dharmapriy­a Dias, Premjayant­ha Kapuge , Aloka Sampath and Anuradha Mallawaara­chchi

The adaptation is done by Saman Pushpa Liyanage , stage lightings by Ranga Samarakone, set designing - Wasantha Ratnayake, stage manager is Aruna Jayasena and costume designer is Gihan Fernando.

Make up is handled by Prem Jayantha Kapuge, music by Ruwan Walpola and line producer is Ranga Samarakoon and the play is produced by Priyankara De Silva.
