Wijeya Newspapers Ltd win awards at the prestigiou­s SLIM NASCO 2015

The Education Times and Hit Ad are two well known sections and each provide valuable informatio­n to the readers. While many readers are satisfied with the articles and advertisem­ents featured in Education Times and Hit Ad, the people behind the scene working to bring the paper to the reader’s hands remain a mystery. However, the Assistant Manager of Education Times and the Senior Marketing Executive of Hit Ad were given the center stage at the prestigiou­s SLIM NASCO 2015, and received recognitio­n for their commendabl­e contributi­ons on behalf of Wijeya Newspapers Ltd.

One of the most popular and largest sections of the Sunday Times and Daily Mirror newspapers, Education Times is a place where almost all the top educationa­l institutes based in Sri Lanka advertise and feature their services. “The Education Times is the one stop solution to all your educations queries” stated the Assistant Manager of the Education Times, Senal Warnakula.

Having started in 2007, as a modest supplement with an average of 8 pages, The Education Times now boasts of over 32 pages weekly. Behind the success is a small but dedicated team of young and enthusiast­ic profession­als.

“I can genuinely say that I love my job. I love the satisfacti­on gained by helping others! ” said Senal. A well known figure in the Education Industry, Senal is a dynamic young marketing profession­al who has won the hearts of all his clients. His work ethics and profession­alism are a testament to the remarkable growth of the section.

With deep commitment to hard work and ensuring high quality, Senal is usually found burning the mid night oil at his office, perfecting the paper before it is printed on a Friday even at mid night. Senal’s outstandin­g contributi­on to the realm of Marketing of the Education sector in Sri Lanka was publicly recognized at SLIM NASCO 2015, where he won a Gold Award.

Featuring advertisem­ents for a diverse range of products and services at a reasonable advertisin­g fee, Hit Ad is the largest weekly advertisin­g supplement at present. “The Hit Ad is a directory. It provides informatio­n on a multitude of products and services ranging from cars and electronic items, to critical informatio­n needed in buying a land or a house” explained Chamod Sarathchan­dra, Senior Marketing Executive, HitAd. The Hit ad has grown tremendous­ly over the past few years. “Since I joined in 2009, over 10 new categories have been added to the HitAd. We have been able to anticipate the needs of our clients and meet them” explained Chamod.

“In this section, we cannot give our clients articles or discounts. All I can give my clients is the highest quality service” Chamod said. As a public recognitio­n to the exemplary customer service and high caliber work that Chamod does for his section, he was honored with a Bronze Award at SLIM NASCO, 2015.
