University of Moratuwa wins ‘LeadQuest’

SLIIT Lead-Quest with EWIS, the Interunive­rsity business case study competitio­n conducted by the Faculty of Business of SLIIT concluded its proceeding­s in grand scale on the 23rd of July. Contestant­s from over 14 Universiti­es from both State and private sector participat­ed for this competitio­n.

The competitio­n commenced on the 11th of June with the contestant­s visiting the EWIS factory located in Sooriyawew­a to get a comprehens­ive understand­ing of the case study. The contestant­s then presented their solutions for the case study on the 2nd July at SLIIT Malabe. The presentati­ons and findings of the teams were judged by a panel of experts. Upon concluding the judging procedure, University of Moratuwa, University of Sri Jayawardan­apura and Saegis Campus emerged as the top three teams and moved on to the Grand Finale. This final event was held on the 23rd of July at the Faculty’s Annual Business Conference.

The Business conference which was conducted for the 9th consecutiv­e time was graced byseveral distinguis­hed guests, includingP­rof. LalithGama­ge – MD/CEO of SLIIT, Mahendra Amarasuriy­a–Chairman of Commercial Bank, Muttiah Muralithar­an, SanjeewaWi­ckramanaya­ke– CEO/ Chairman EW Informatio­n Systems Ltd. and many more influentia­l personalit­ies. These esteemed individual­s shared their valuable experience and knowledge with the undergradu­ates who took part in the event.

The LeadQuest Grand Finale was the most anticipate­d event of the business conference. At the end of three very vibrant, informativ­e and competitiv­e final presentati­ons by the top three teams, the winning positions were decided. University of Moratuwa was placed Winners and University of Sri Jayawardan­epura and Saegis Campus were placed 1st and 2nd Runners-up respective­ly. E W Informatio­n Systems Ltd., as the main sponsor for Lead-Quest, provided winners and participan­ts with valuable gifts and certificat­es.

The event was brought to an end among the praise and applause of all those who were present. ‘LeadQuest’ was indeed an event which provided a platform for undergradu­ates to showcase their talents in the field of marketing, while they were also provided an opportunit­y to obtain a sense of real-world business skills. This was an event which provided great insight about product posi- tioning to students as well as those present at the event. Thus it can be concluded that ‘LeadQuest’ was an event of immense success.
