Royal Institute of Colombo (RIC) is a pioneer in tertiary education. RIC has a reputation extending to 25 years of academic excellence with the University of London, the only ‘Affiliate Centre’ in the island. This strong and unique collaboration since 1990 has awarded many students Distinctions and Merits in the fields of Economics, Mathematics, Management, Accounting and Finance, International Relations, Social Sciences and Law

To be a student and a graduate from the University of London International Programme is a prestigious opportunity for a Sri Lankan to obtain a high- class British Degree, through a flexible study programme from the comfort of their own homes. The degree can be read, through the diploma route, which is the first year of the degree or the standard route)

The LLB and BSc degrees are awarded by the University of London with the academic direction, study material, paper setting and assessment of examinations done by the academics of the constituent colleges of the University of London. The consortiums of colleges for the University of London lead the University League Table in the UK. A degree holder from this top ranked university is highly recognized and acknowledged around the world and Royal Institute of Colombo is proud to have produced over two thousand such graduates.

Over the years RIC has produced excellent track records, even on a global scale with world prizes being produced while many Diplomates have obtained Distinctions, Merits and Credit passes each year, graduates have secured First Classes (Hons.) and a large number of Second Classes (Hons.) in their final year.

Due to the excellent performances of RIC students in the examinations conducted by the University exclusive scholarship schemes are on offer for students studying at RIC, offered by the University of London and London School of Economics and Political Sciences ( LSE). Additionally, the students reading for their BSc degree from LSE are awarded with two fully paid scholarships to study at LSE during the summer.

In 2012, Royal Institute of Colombo, partnered with Deakin University commenced offering a unique pathway programme, where a student starts his/her education in Engineering, IT, Science or Biomedical Science at RIC and completes the degree at Deakin University in Australia. The Vice Chancellors Scholarship which is a 50 % off the tuition fees is given by Deakin University, to an outstanding high achieving student of RIC.

The scholarships offered at RIC are for high achievers who have obtained 3 A*s at London A/Ls or 4 A’s at Local A/Ls. Similarly those who have obtained Distinctions in the First Year examination ( Diploma in Law/ Economics/ Social Sciences) receive a ‘ High Achievers Scholarship’ of 50% for their 2nd and 3rd Year of study. This is to encourage them to continue their outstanding performance. RIC not only motivates students academically but also improves their leadership qualities which would thus enhance their character.
