CMI Sri Lanka’s Corporate Quiz Challenge a grand success
The Chartered Management Institute ( CMI) UK Sri Lanka Branch successfully conducted their Corporate Quiz challenge for the second successive year on Sunday 09th August at the Kingsbury Hotel Colombo.
There were a total of 25 corporate teams taking parts in this quiz. The questions compiled as usul by Ruwan Senanayake, International Quizzing Associations’ Country Representative for Sri Lanka and included some visuals and video clips too which made it an interesting experience to every one who was there to witness the event whether they were taking part in the quiz or not.
The Dialoag Axiata A team emerged the overall winners and were presented the CMI Quiz Challenge Trophy, certificates and a cash award of Rs 100,000/- Their team which was led by Mohammed Rikaz comprised of Kusum Gunawardena, Sameera Malinda, Nirmal Jayawardana and Nafli Najab.
The second placed team - 99 X Technology was captained by Shirantha de Alwis who was joined by Ivantha Seneviratne, Rangitha Kuruppu, Kalanamith Mannapperuma and Navaka Navaratne.
They also received an attractive trophy, certificates and a cash prize of Rs 75,000/
The 3rd place honours were shared between IFS and Millennium IT and they received Rs 50,000/- as prize money and certificates of excellence.
The 4th placed and 5th placed teams from DFCC Bank and Sri Lankan Airlines were presented with cash awards of Rs 30,000/- and Rs 25,000/- respectively ( and also certificates) while the sector winners were recognised with attractive trophies.
Dialog Axiata A team also won the top honours in the Mercantile sector while 99 X Technology emerged the top team in the IT and BPO Sector.
The other teams in these two sectors were from Sri Lankan Airlines, SAGT who fielded 2 teams, Dialog Axiata B team and MAS Intimates in the Mercantile sector and IFS, Rype 3, Stax Inc, Copal Amba, and Millennium IT’ who fielded 2 teams in the IT and BPO Sector.
There were 10 teams from the Banking & Finance sector who competed in this quiz and the DFCC Bank team lead by Nalin Karunathileka emerged as the best among them. Other teams in this sector were from Peoples Bank, Seylan Bank ( 2 teams) Amana Bank, NDB Investment Bank, Bank of Ceylon, HDFC, HSBC and Lanka Securities. The top award in the Education Sector was won by Mercury Institute.
There was one round of questions on Management related subjects and 99 X Technology, Millennium IT and DFCC tied for the top position in this Management Round of Questions.
As was done during the last year, CMI Sri Lanka Branch presented certificates of participation to all those who took part in this year’s quiz too.
