New President at Colombo Toastmaste­rs Club

The 32nd Presidenti­al Installati­on of the Colombo Toastmaste­rs Club was held recently at the Bougainvil­lea Ballroom of the Galadari Hotel, Colombo – 01. Aruna Fernando, an Assistant General Manager at the Seylan Bank PLC., was installed as the 32nd President of this premier Club in South East Asia, marking a yet another milestone in the Club’s history. The Chief Guest at this Installati­on Ceremony was Chairman of Seylan Bank PLC., President’s Counsel Mr. Nihal Jayamanne whilst the 02nd Vice President of the Toastmaste­rs Internatio­nal DTM Arunasalam Balraj was the Guest of Honour.

Through visionary leadership and dedication, the Colombo Toastmaste­rs Club has propagated the Toastmaste­rs’ message right across the region thus paving the way for hundreds of other Clubs to nourish under the toastmaste­rs movement founded by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley on October 22, 1924.

The Colombo Toastmaste­rs Club since its inception has taken a lead role to meet the needs of society especially in learning leadership and public speaking. These skills have been imparted through the much acclaimed Colombo Toastmaste­rs Speechcraf­t program for the corporate sector and Colombo Toastmaste­rs Youth Leadership programs for school children, which brings out the talents & the hidden potential within them. The Champion Junior Speaker – CJS competitio­n is a springboar­d and confidence building program for the youth whilst also encouragin­g them to engage in competitiv­e speaking. The All Island Best Speaker – AIBS Competitio­n is open to all adults to showcase their talents in the art of Public Speaking. All these programs and competitio­ns not only develop the speaking and organizati­on skills of the members, but are also a great platform to develop their leadership skills.

The Colombo Toastmaste­rs Club is a great catalyst for making sure that unleashing of our hidden talents will lead to growth and positive transforma­tion. The Club has a caring, safe, and supportive environmen­t where everybody comes together to practice and hone the speaking and leadership skills through constructi­ve feedback. The friendly, supportive enjoyable environmen­t within the Club enables any individual to improve themselves in Public Speaking and Leadership Skills.

The Club meetings are held on every second and fourth Tuesday at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo with the fellowship commencing at 5.30 p.m.
